Background:


In 2017-2018, Singapore Heritage Society commissioned a research project, supported by the National Heritage Board, to investigate and strengthen strategies for heritage conservation / community engagement at 21 historic places of worship.


The was followed by a four-part walking workshop series in 2020 to commemorate the Singapore Bicentennial:

  • 29 Sept 2019: Between skyscrapers & MRT: Historic places of worship in Tg Pagar & Tg Malang

  • 27 Oct 2019: Life and soul: Historic places of worship in Telok Ayer

  • 24 Nov 2019: Continuity and succession: Historic places of worship in Cantonment & Bukit Pasoh

  • 29 Dec 2019: Culture and Memory: Historic places of worship in Ann Siang and Kreta Ayer
